Pamela Hansford Johnson, a.k.a. P.G. Wodehouse (1881–1975), was born in London, England, and lived there most of her life; she died in Santa Barbara, California. She wrote seventy novels and short stories and more than a hundred plays and screenplays for the stage and films
She is best known as the creator of Bertie Wooster and Jeeves, two comic characters who appeared in dozens of her novels. Her books have sold more than 200 million copies worldwide and have been translated into more than twenty languages.
